Colour Correction
Filters
Greenaway Marine
have specially designed and manufactured COLOUR CORRECTING FILTERS, for blue
water and green water for available light video and still photography.
With sunlight and a Seapro filter you capture the natural colours of the oceans
corals, fish and other aquatic life in the sea, lakes, streams and rivers.
The filters neutralise the underwater blue or green cast, so that the true
colours which already exist can be recorded on film or video.
USE OF FILTERS WITH A VIDEO CAMERA
We recommend that you use the AUTO WHITE BALANCE, MODERN VIDEO ELECTRONICS ARE
QUICKER AND REACT INSTANTLY UNDERWATER.
USING THE COLOUR CORRECTION FILTERS
You must first decide the type of water you are diving in. As a guide British,
Atlantic and Mediterranean waters will require the Green Water Correction
Filter, i.e. the water where you will not find coral reefs. Most areas of the
world where you will find coral reef formation will require the Blue Water
Correction Filter. It is always worth checking, this is only a rough guide.
The filters screw directly into the filter mount on the camera lens, in the case
of the Nikonos camera, AND Digital still cameras in housings you should fit the
filter when underwater or ask for the filter to be supplied with a pressure
compensation hole drilled.
Water acts a continuous filter, the deeper you go underwater the more colour is
lost to this natural filtering system, red, oranges and the yellows are quickly
lost from your visible spectrum. The Seapro filters will help to return those
colours lost by first filtering out the blue or green predominant cast and then
enhancing the colours lost, giving you the true natural colours.
